The thermal baths dated roughly IV-V century DC, were buried by an earthquake in 1693 and brought to light by the will of Ignazio Paternò Castello, Prince of Biscari. Located under the cathedral, it is accessed from Piazza Duomo through a short staircase. The spa, have different environments within them, among which a large rectangular room with vaulted supported by four pillars. Little or nothing remains of the ancient marble floors as well as less visible are the frescoes reproducing rural scenes that once decorated the walls.
